Last Known Good configuration

What is Last Known Good configuration?

Last Known Good configuration is the option every computer owner or user should be aware of. Often, critical (BSOD) Windows errors suggest trying this option in the error message. STOP 0x00000050 message may be offering this, too.

The Last Known Good Configuration is a recovery option that allows you to return your system
to the state when you were last able to boot successfully by applying the most recent system settings that worked properly. Every time your computer starts successfully, registry and driver settings are backed up with the possibility to apply them in urgent situations. Last Known Good Configuration may be helpful when you accidentally change system settings causing errors, instabilities, etc, install a driver that conflicts with your configuration.

Important! The Last Known Good Configuration option restores only the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet. As a rule, Last Known Good Configuration cannot recover the system form serious registry corruption or any other serious damage.
