System Restore

What is System Restore Option?

System Restore Option is one of the most simple and accessible ways of recovering from system glitches. It creates a snapshot of Windows configuration attached to a certain point in time. Unlike Last Known Good configuration which restores only one snapshot (as you can guess by its name), System Restore creates multiple restore points. Also, System Restore allows to undo the change, which is impossible with the Last Known Good configuration option. The system created Restore points every day or before installing new programs or drivers. In Vista you can create a restore points manually. In practice, it proves to be effective only when some of the system settings were misconfigured by the user. In case of BSODs or incidental appearance of 0x00000050 the effectiveness of System Restore is not high because troubleshooting was not the original purpose of this function. However, being aware of System Restore may turn out really useful someday.
